There have been a number of updates to both the Ale Abacus and Brewing Assistant app. You don't have to do anything to take advantage of the new features in the Ale Abacus, but you will have to update the Brewing Assistant through the Android Market, or scan the barcode below, to be able to use the new features on your phone.

Ok, for the updates:

Ale Abacus and Brewing Assistant

  • Recipes can be marked as private.
    • The recipes will still be public by default but now there is an option to allow you to keep your recipes to yourself.
  • The units for miscellaneous ingredients are now selectable.
    • We have added more options for selecting units in the miscellaneous category. For US standard users, the options are: ounces, pounds, tablespoons, fluid ounces, and gallons. For metric users, the options are: grams, kilograms, milliliters, and liters.

Brewing Assistant

  • Leaving app will give the option to delete alarms instead of automatically deleting them.
    • The alarms are stored now so that they will not go away when you leave the app. This allows you to use your phone for other things while still being able to get reminders to add ingredients to your brew. The app will give you the option to keep or delete your recipes when you navigate away from the brewing page. You will also be given the option to delete previously created reminders when you navigate back to the brewing page after you started brewing.
  • Ingredient names can now be clicked to add ingredients as well as the plus signs.
    • On some phones, clicking the plus sign to add ingredients could be difficult. Now you can click on the plus sign or the name for the type of ingredient you want to add. I.e. clicking on "Hops" will bring up the menu to add hops to your recipe.

We hope you enjoy the additions to the site and the app. As always, if you have any issues or comments, please let us know over on the Contact Us page.
